Story

The concept for this campaign  all started in mid-Sep, when our Danish friend, Jonatan (affectionally known as The Great Dane) challenged myself, Brent aka The Ballie,to a long-distance trail running event in mid-Dec.  Along the way, several teenagers from our youth decided to join in the challenge with us.

The running group consists of:

• Jonatan, aka The Great Dane –  29 years old,  fit and fast, always up for a challenge, aiming to do the 20 + 7km events    (27km total) on 11 Dec
• Brent aka Ballie: 52 years, fitter and faster mentally than he is actually physically, had been running 5km a week up until mid-Sept and had not run more than 11km since his mid-thirties. Brent has been training since mid-Sept, and is attempting the full 27km as well.
• Joshua, Jono and Judah (ages range between 13-19 years old) are aiming for the 12km trail run event on 11 Dec.

We will be running for the Amathuba Foundation which is a local Non Profit organisation who , in their own words,:

Exist to facilitate opportunities for learners at educational centers of excellence. The purpose of these opportunities is to bring out the best in these individuals by placing them in an environment in which they can thrive. The stories of these transformed lives will in turn inspire their families and greater communities, with the hope that one day these learners will be in a position to make a contribution to social change, themselves, in South Africa.
